Romantic finger foods are so easy eat at a picnic. If you are with someone special you do not want plates and cutlery getting between you and your partner.
You can even feed each other.

They are simple and quick to prepare at home. Pack them in plastic boxes with airtight lids. Keep them cool so they are ready to nibble on as soon as you arrive.

Here are some ideas for yummy finger foods to make for you both to share.

Finger Foods To Make

Spicy Picnic Chicken Wings

Chicken Wings
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbs sweet paprika
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup (60ml) olive oil
  • 500gms chicken wings
  • 2 tbs chopped parsley

Combine the spices, garlic and oil in a mortar and pestle with some salt and pepper and grind into a paste. Place chicken in a bowl with the marinade and toss well to combine. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Spread the wings on the tray and bake for 25 minutes until golden and cooked through. Sprinkle with parsley to take to the picnic.

Mini Quiches

Mini Quiches
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 rashers of bacon - diced
  • 1/2 small red onion - diced
  • 1 Tablespoon of grated cheese
  • 2 or 3 pre-made frozen puff pastry squares
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • Parsley

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C .
Line a 12 cup muffin pan with pastry cases

Mix the eggs, bacon, onion, cheese, salt & pepper, cream & parsley well.
Use a pastry cutter to cut circles out of the defrosted puff pastry and place into the greased muffin pan. Spoon the mixture into the pastry.
Bake in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Eat cold with a salad at a picnic.

Avocado Dip

Avocado Dip
  • 2 large avocados, chopped
  • 1 small tomato, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Avocados have the reputation of being an aphrodisiac so they make ideal romantic finger foods.

  • Place avocado in a bowl.
  • Using a fork, mash until almost smooth.
  • Add tomato, garlic and lime juice. Stir to combine.
  • Serve with chips or celery and carrot sticks.

Ham Wrapped Asparagus

Asparagus Ham
  • 12 asparagus spears
  • 12 slices prosciutto
  • 2Tabls Plain Flour
  • 1 egg
  • 125gms Sesame seed
  • 30gms melted butter 

A tasty, crunchy finger food

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.

Cover an oven tray with baking paper.

Wrap a slice of prosciutto ham around each asparagus spear.

Roll each spear in egg, flour and sesame seeds and place on baking tray.

Cook for 3-4 minutes until the asparagus is nicely roasted and the ham is crispy.
